About this test

Better2Know Instant Four Screen

Our Instant Four Screen provides swift, efficient and discreet testing for four harmful STIs, namely Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis and HIV. The screen's incubation period is 28 days, which means you should be tested no sooner than four weeks after potential exposure to infection. Testing within this window period could impair the accuracy of your results, giving you a false impression of your sexual health status. This is because your body may not yet have had the time to develop any antibodies against the infection. If you have any questions regarding your incubation period, or would like to book your test today, call Better2Know's experienced team on the number above or click Get Started to book online.

What samples are required for my Instant Four Screen?

This Instant Four screen requires both blood and swab samples to run. The blood samples are for the HIV, Hepatitis B and C and Syphilis tests, whilst the swabs are needed for the Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea tests. Usually, the blood samples can be taken from a small finger prick, so this makes the Instant Four screen particularly suitable for anyone who does not like needles. The Swab samples are taken from the vagina in the case of women, and from the urethra in the case of men

What is the Instant testing process?

Better2Know has Instant STI testing availability across the country. Our sexual health advisory team can arrange your booking at a private clinic that suits you. At your confidential appointment, the nurse or clinician overseeing your screen will explain your test before collecting the blood and swab samples needed for analysis.

Your swab samples will be used to look for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea infections, while the blood sample will detect both HIV and Syphilis.

Blood samples used in Better2Know's Instant tests and screens are collected via finger prick lancet and are therefore ideal for those who do not like needles. There are also no dietary or fasting requirements associated with the Instant Four Screen. Pathology is performed whilst you wait in the clinic and will be ready in under 30 minutes.

When will I get my results?

The blood and swab samples collected at your appointment will be analysed by a highly qualified medical practitioner. The test is run whilst you wait, and you should have your results around 30 minutes later. You will be given a signed and completed copy of your pathology report.

What happens if I test positive?

If you test positive for Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhoea, you will be provided with a prescription for the required medication. Patients with positive HIV or Syphilis results can provide a venous blood sample for further, confirmatory testing at no additional cost. Better2Know can also provide telephonic or face-to-face consultations with one of our many doctors across the UK and, if necessary, will refer you to a specialist. You also have the option of taking your results to your personal GP or sexual health centre.
