Dengue fever is caused by a virus transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. This infection is most commonly found in tropical and sub-tropical areas of the world, including South and Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and some Pacific Islands. It has also been reported in some European countries.
Symptoms of Dengue Fever include a fever, muscle pain, joint pain, vomiting, rashes and swollen glands. In most people, symptoms are mild, but in others they can be sever and life threatening.
If you have visited any parts of the world where Dengue is present, have ben bitten my mosquitoes or have reason to believe you might have been exposed to the Dengue Fever virus, you should get tested.
This test has been designed anyone, male or female, who believe they may have Dengue Fever.
The test requires a blood sample to check for the antibodies your body makes to fight the Dengue virus.
