How does the Herpes 1 and 2 Swab Test work?
Better2Know's Herpes Simplex 1 and 2 Swab uses a single swab sample to test for both types of Herpes. A swab sample is taken from the affected area and sent to our laboratory for analysis. This test is suitable for people who are experiencing symptoms of Herpes, such as sores or blisters.
What does it test for?
This test detects:
- Herpes 1
- Herpes 2
The test will tell you if you have Herpes 1, Herpes 2, neither or both. Herpes 1, is often known Oral Herpes, is the virus that causes cold sores around the mouth. Herpes 2, is often know as Genital Herpes, tends to cause sores and blisters on the genitals. Herpes 2 can be found in the mouth if you have given oral sex to someone with Genital Herpes. Herpes 1 can be found in the genitals if you have received oral sex from someone with Oral Herpes.
