+

What are the requirements for arriving in the UK?

Travellers arriving from non-red list countries can use the Project Screen arrival tests. Which arrival test depends on whether travellers have been fully vaccinated in one of the UK Government''s eligible vaccination countries or not.

If you are fully vaccinated

This is what you need to do if you qualify under the fully vaccinated rules for travel to England.

Before you travel to England - fully vaccinated

Before you travel to England you must:

  • book and pay for a PCR COVID-19 test - to be taken before the end of day 2 in England
  • complete a passenger locator form - to be completed in the 48 hours before you arrive in England
  • You can choose a lateral flow test or a PCR test.
  • You will need to enter your COVID-19 test booking reference number on your passenger locator form.

If you will be in England for less than 2 days you still need to book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test.

When you arrive in England - fully vaccinated

After you arrive in England you must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2. The day you arrive is day 0.

You must book this test before you travel.

If you are not fully vaccinated

This is what you need to do if you do not qualify under the fully vaccinated rules for travel to England.

Before you travel to England - not fully vaccinated

Before you travel to England you must:

  • take a COVID-19 test - to be taken in the 3 days before you travel to England
  • book and pay for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 PCR tests - to be taken after arrival in England
  • complete a passenger locator form - to be completed in the 48 hours before you arrive in England

When you arrive in England - not fully vaccinated

After you arrive in England you must:

  • quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 full days
  • take your COVID-19 PCR tests - you must book these tests before you travel
  • You must take the first test on or before day 2 and the second test on or after day 8. The day you arrive is day 0. If your day 2 test is positive you do not have to take a day 8 test.

If you are in England for less than 10 days, you need to quarantine for the time you are here. You need to book day 2 and day 8 PCR tests. You only need to take the tests if you are still in England on those days.

If the test result is positive

If you test positive on your day 2 or day 8 test, you must self-isolate for 10 full days. The day you took the test is day 0.

Members of your household may also be asked to self-isolate.

Test to Release scheme

If you need to quarantine, you may be able to end quarantine early if you pay for a private Day 5 COVID-19 PCR test through the Test to Release scheme.

What do I do if I am travelling from a red list country?

If you have been in or through any of the countries listed on the UK Government's red list in the previous 10 days, you will be refused entry to the UK. If you are a British or Irish national, or you have residency rights in the UK, you will be able to enter. You must quarantine in a government approved hotel for 10 days. You cannot use our Arrival bundles or Test to Release testing services.

For more information, please visit the UK Government's website.

+

When should I order my arrival tests?

Travellers should purchase their arrival tests - either Day 2 or Day 2 and 8 - before flying to England.

Before you travel to England, you must provide your journey, contact details and your UK arrival address by completing the passenger locator form. You will also be required to provide the arrival tests booking reference number to complete your passenger locator form. You must do this within the 48 hours before you arrive.

+

How do I access my booking reference number?

After placing your order, you will find the reference number for your test(s) on the 'Order Confirmation' screen of our app. You will also receive an 'Order Confirmation' email that includes your tests reference number. If you are at all unsure or can't see your booking reference number, you can speak to our team, by emailing care@projectscreen.co.uk.

+

How long does it take to receive the results?

For PCR results, within 24 hours of us receiving your swab at our UK-based laboratory, your sample will be analysed, and your results will be delivered securely online. You will be notified by email when your results are ready.

For Lateral Flow Antigen results, within 20 minutes of processing your sample your results will be available on your device and photo verification within 12 hours. You will be notified by email when your results are ready.

Can I end my quarantine early after arriving in England if I am unvaccinated or do not qualify for the fully vaccinated rules?

Travellers arriving in England from non-red list countries who are unvaccinated or do not qualify for the fully vaccinated rules can use the Test to Release for International Travel scheme. The scheme allows travellers to pay for an additional private COVID-19 test. If the result is negative, quarantine ends early. You can select between our Test to Release Home Covid-19 kits or visit one of our Test Pods in England to do your test.

You cannot use the Test to Release until you have been in England for 5 full days. The day you arrive in England counts as Day 0.

If you do not want to opt into the Test to Release scheme, you will need to self-isolate for the full 10 days. You cannot use the Test to Release scheme if you have been in or through any country that is on the red list in the 10 days before you arrive in England.

If you are planning to use the Test to Release scheme, you must still take PCR tests on day 2 and on day 8. Even if you get a negative result from your day 2 and day 5 (Test to Release) and are released from self-isolation, you still need to take a test on or after day 8 to check that you do not have COVID-19.

+

What happens if my result is positive?

If you get a positive result from your day 2 test, you must quarantine for 10 days beginning the day after the test was taken (this means until day 13). Your household will also need to quarantine until day 13.

You need to take a COVID-19 test on day 8, unless you got a positive result from your day 2 test.

If you get a positive test result from your day 8 test you will need to quarantine until day 19. Your household will also need to quarantine until day 19.
