Travellers arriving in England from non-red list countries, who have been fully vaccinated one of the UK Government's eligible vaccination countries, are only required to take a PCR test on day 2. Unvaccinated arrivals, or travellers who do not qualify under the vaccinated rules, are required to take PCR tests on day 2 and 8, and have the option of taking an additional PCR test on day 5 as part of the "Test to Release" scheme.

What are the requirements for arriving in England?

Travellers arriving from non-red list countries can use the Project Screen arrival tests. Which arrival test depends on whether travellers have been fully vaccinated in one of the UK Government''s eligible vaccination countries or not.

From 4am Monday 4 October, you will qualify as fully vaccinated if you are vaccinated either:

  • under an approved vaccination programme in the UK, Europe, USA or UK vaccine programme overseas
  • with a full course of the Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna or Janssen vaccines from a relevant public health body in Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Dominica, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan or the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Formulations of the 4 listed vaccines, such as AstraZeneca Covishield, AstraZeneca Vaxzevria and Moderna Takeda, qualify as approved vaccines.

You must have had a complete course of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before you arrive in England.

Where 2 doses of a vaccine are required for a full course, you will be able to:

  • mix 2 different types of vaccine, for example Oxford/AstraZeneca and Moderna
  • have the 2 vaccinations under 2 different approved programmes, for example Australia and Japan, UK and USA, EU and Canada

You must be able to prove that you have been fully vaccinated (plus 14 days) with a document (digital or paper-based) from a national or state-level public health body that includes, as a minimum:

forename and surname(s)
date of birth
vaccine brand and manufacturer
date of vaccination for every dose
country or territory of vaccination and/or certificate issuer

If your document from a public health body does not include all of these, you must follow the non-vaccinated rules. If not, you may be denied boarding.

If you are fully vaccinated in the USA, you will need to show a CDC card showing you''ve had a full course of an FDA-approved vaccine in the USA. You''ll also need to prove that you are a resident of the USA.

If you are fully vaccinated in Europe, you will need to show an EU Digital COVID Certificate (EU DCC), showing you''ve had a full course of an EMA or Swissmedic-approved vaccine.

If you are fully vaccinated, but do not qualify under these fully vaccinated rules, you must follow the non-vaccinated rules.

Travel from the rest of the world if you are not fully vaccinated:

From 4am Monday 4 October, you must follow these rules if you:

  • do not qualify under the fully vaccinated rules
  • are partially vaccinated
  • are not vaccinated

Before you travel to England you must:

  • take a pre-departure COVID-19 test - to be taken in the 3 days before you travel to England
  • book and pay for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 tests - to be taken after arrival in England
  • complete your passenger locator form - any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in England

After you arrive in England you must:

  • quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days
  • take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8

You may be able to end quarantine early if you pay for a private COVID-19 test through the Test to Release scheme.

Travellers arriving to England from non-red list countries can use the Project Screen arrival tests. Travellers should follow separate advice if arriving to:

  • Scotland
  • Northern Ireland
  • Wales

Please visit the UK Government's website for more information.

+

What do I do if I am travelling from a red list country?

If you have been in or through any of the countries listed on the UK Government's red list in the previous 10 days, you will be refused entry to the UK. If you are a British or Irish national, or you have residency rights in the UK, you will be able to enter. You must quarantine in a government approved hotel for 10 days. You cannot use our Arrival bundles or Test to Release testing services.

For more information, please visit the UK Government's website.

+

When should I order my arrival tests?

Travellers should purchase their arrival tests - either Day 2 or Day 2 and 8 - before flying to England.

Before you travel to England, you must provide your journey, contact details and your UK arrival address by completing the passenger locator form. You will also be required to provide the arrival tests booking reference number to complete your passenger locator form. You must do this within the 48 hours before you arrive.

+

How do I access my booking reference number?

After placing your order, you will find the reference number for your test(s) on the 'Order Confirmation' screen of our app. You will also receive an 'Order Confirmation' email that includes your tests reference number. If you are at all unsure or can't see your booking reference number, you can speak to our team, by emailing care@projectscreen.co.uk.

+

How long does it take to receive the results?

Within 24 hours of us receiving your swab at our UK-based laboratory, your sample will be analysed, and your results will be delivered securely online.

You will be notified by email when your results are ready.

+

Can I end my quarantine early after arriving in England if I am unvaccinated or do not qualify for the fully vaccinated rules?

Travellers arriving in England from non-red list countries who are unvaccinated or do not qualify for the fully vaccinated rules can use the Test to Release for International Travel scheme. The scheme allows travellers to pay for an additional private COVID-19 test. If the result is negative, quarantine ends early. You can select between our Test to Release Home Covid-19 kits or visit one of our Test Pods in England to do your test.

You cannot use the Test to Release until you have been in England for 5 full days. The day you arrive in England counts as Day 0.

If you do not want to opt into the Test to Release scheme, you will need to self-isolate for the full 10 days. You cannot use the Test to Release scheme if you have been in or through any country that is on the red list in the 10 days before you arrive in England.

If you are planning to use the Test to Release scheme, you must still take PCR tests on day 2 and on day 8. Even if you get a negative result from your day 2 and day 5 (Test to Release) and are released from self-isolation, you still need to take a test on or after day 8 to check that you do not have COVID-19.

+

What happens if my result is positive?

If you get a positive result from your day 2 test, you must quarantine for 10 days beginning the day after the test was taken (this means until day 13). Your household will also need to quarantine until day 13.

You need to take a COVID-19 test on day 8, unless you got a positive result from your day 2 test.

If you get a positive test result from your day 8 test you will need to quarantine until day 19. Your household will also need to quarantine until day 19.
