LAMP testing at London’s busiest airport.
Tuesday 20th October, 2020 marked a major milestone in the fight against Covid. New pre-departure facilities at London Heathrow terminal 2 and terminal 5 will process LAMP tests for departing passengers.
The industry-leading testing facilities, a UK first, were a critical step in the sector’s recovery, restoring traveller confidence and re-opening routes from the UK to the rest of the world.

To enable passengers travelling through Heathrow to get a Fit-To-Fly certificate say that they were not carrying the virus at the time when they boarded the plane.
Working with our airport partners, The Collinson Group, passengers only have to arrive approximately 1 hour earlier than normal. During the appointment, a swab will be taken for testing, which is processed immediately using the new LAMP-based method and processed onsite at the airport by our LAMP technicians—highly trained staff with a background in science and laboratory work.
Oxsed’s Ox-LAMP COVID-19 test is rapid, accurate and scalable. It has been designed for diagnostic testing and mass surveillance testing. This new test-on-departure process will help passengers leaving the UK to meet requirements of governments worldwide, while giving peace of mind to all travellers that everyone who has boarded their plane will have only been allowed to do so by showing a negative test result.
The end to end process takes approximately 90 mins from initial swab to result.
